Maclaren Stroller Recall
Maclaren Company is recalling about 1 million umbrella strollers due to a possible hazard to children's fingers. The side hinge mechanism poses a potential risk of cutting or amputating a child's fingers while opening or closed the stroller, the British company said Monday.
This voluntary Maclaren Stroller recall applies to all Maclaren strollers sold in the U.S. since they were introduced in 1999.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Maclaren have received reports of 15 incidents in which children were hurt over the past ten years.
The affected Maclaren models include Volo, Quest Sport, Triumph, Quest Mod, Techno XLR, Techno XT,Twin Triumph, Twin Techno and Easy Traveller, according to the stroller company. The Maclaren strollers, which are manufactured in China, are sold nationwide.
Maclaren, in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission, on the Maclaren Stroller recall to provide retailers and consumers free repair kits which will cover a joint on the faulty hinge.
Maclaren owners should stop using the strollers immediately and contact Maclaren via its Web site or by calling toll-free at (877) 688-2326, the company said.
