Halo 3 Trailer Testament
The Halo 3 trailer was one of the most anticipated video game trailers in the history of the industry. Actually there were multiple trailers available for download all over the Internet with a total of over 100 million views. Networks spend tens of millions of dollars to achieve viewer numbers far smaller than that. It’s a testament to the popularity of the series, and the expectations of fans as they waited for the final installment of the original trilogy.

Expectations grew a lot prior to the Halo 3 trailer. Halo 3 would end the original trilogy, so people were very interested as to how the series story line would resolve. There could be spoilers or information as to the Halo rings or the Founders’ ultimate plans for them. People watched it as they might watch an episode of popular television mystery series like Lost, or CSI. This crossover, people who wanted a video game watching trailers to give them information about the game, might represent a future trend in the entertainment world.
The Halo 3 trailer proved to be accurate as far as what people could expect with the game. Fans were happy to see the continuation of the story, the golden triangle of Halo retained for combat, and also some new wrinkles unique to this game. One of these was that for the first time a player maps could actually be edited and then made available to the public to play on a server via Xbox Live. This turned out to be a wildly popular feature of Halo 3.
