The Marathon Man achievement in Halo 3 is a big one that can be unlocked by finding each of the Halo 3 terminal locations in the game.  Here is information on where to find all of these Halo 3 terminal locations.

The back story behind the Halo 3 terminal locations is that the Forerunners have stored information there about their survival and their plan to fire the Halo rings.  The Forerunners maintained a large empire over 100,000 years before the time of the Halo series.  The human race is related to the Forerunners and thus can reclaim the keys to activate the Halo network.  The Halo 3 terminal locations, then, are central to the overall game story.

There are three Halo 3 terminal locations found on the first level called the Ark. Find the first immediately upon entering. There’ll be a door to the left, which is entered to find the first of the terminals.  To find the second terminal look for the structure that enables tanks across the bride of light.  The terminal can be found directly behind the bridge controls. The last terminal on level one is a challenge to locate. Following a battle with a scarab there is a large structure, followed by a door and a staircase – look under the staircase.

There are three Halo 3 terminal locations on the Covenant.  The first of these terminals, overall terminal four, is accessed via the elevator leading to the tower controls. Reach the terminal by jumping from the elevator to an adjacent platform.  The fifth terminal can be reached by using a Hornet vehicle, heading towards the second tower.  If you’re going the right way you’ll hear a voice saying the tower is clear. The terminal is inside the tower.  Tower three holds the sixth terminal on a platform.

The game’s last level is home to two more Halo 3 terminal locations.  The eighth of these was unknown but later discovered by a player.  Halo3planet.com is a good source for information about the final two Halo 3 terminal locations.
